After a passenger boat M/V Tawash capsized in the Iloilo-Guimaras sea yesterday afternoon, seven people were identified dead and two others are deemed missing. It has been one of the most tragic accidents that happens in the province after a few years. The estimated distance between Iloilo and Guimaras is about 1.5 nautical miles and can be traveled by motorbanca in 25-35 mins.

The boat carried a total of 41 passengers including the crews and had left the Iloilo Wharf by 3:45 PM. According to the statements of those who survived, the weather is yet fine as they left Iloilo despite the typhoon Lando which is expected to be in the area of Philippine responsibility this week and will hit the northern part of the country.  As they were in the middle, a strong wind suddenly blows and big waves started to roll the boat until it capsized.

Even after a fast craft and few motorbancas have responded and rescued the passengers the boat crews Ruben Gania (54) and Larry Abilla (59) with Cora Ganila, Mark Reial Mata (9), Luke Shile Mata (6) and Christine Daryle Vasquez died in the accident while CJ Gamotea (3) and Shine Mata are still deemed missing.

This causes trauma to those who have been traveling a lot and a few had expresses their concerns on the management of the Jordan Banca Multi-Purpose Association. Perhaps it is a sign to improve the bancas taking passengers to the province. Lt. Edison Diaz, Iloilo Coast Guard Station Commander,  immediately stopped the trip of boats that causes a long queue of passenger lines today.
