Malapascua Island is located in the Northern Part of Cebu known for its rigorous diving spots. This February, we got the chance to Rediscover Malapascua.
This should be a Team Building of one of teams in our workplace and since their supervisor has been my former supervisor I got the chance to join them. Well, I am not supposed to since I am planning to go to the Sicogon Island the next week. Since they encourage me, then I go for it. I have joined them before in their Isla de Gigantes Adventure and I consider them a team too.
The Trip to Malapascua
We started our trip 12 midnight going to Danao Port in Escalante City. But hey, it seems that we got a wrong turn befor going to Danao Port so we have the chance to pass by an old and seems isolated and haunted house in Escalante City but we didnt get inside of course.
From Danao Port, we travelled almost 2 hours going to Tabuelan Port in Cebu.
And from Tabuelan, we ride our van to supposedly Funtastic Island in Medellin and so we can have our breakfast. Yet, unfortunately when we get to Medellin we found out that we need to ride a boat going to Medellin that would cost 7000 pesos. Since that doesnt really included in our iterinary and our budget we decided not to proceed. We decided to proceed to Maya Port instead in Daanbantayan.
When we got to Maya Port, we stopped by a small carenderia to eat our Brunch (Breakfast and Lunch) and as expected we have ourselves full since we really have a long trip.
The Malapascua Island Adventure
From Maya Port, we ride another boat going to Malapascua which is only about 30 minutes. The experience is fun and we got sometime to have a picture taken with foreigners. And we also have experienced big waves strucked our boat. So fun!
When we dropped off the boat to the island, we have to ride a small boat and I got a chance to have a picture taken with the child of the boat driver. LOL.
When we get to the island, we have walked a bit to find a place where we can stay and we found a cottage good for 2 which is worth 1200 pesos overnight. Well, expensive. So we have talked to the manager and have it lesser. We occupied two fan-room cottages. While others rest a bit, we got a chance to have a picture taken in the beach front which is awesome.
We also got to swim in the beach front which is a little bit rocky and a good walk in the beach lines. There are a lot of European guests there than locals. So expect yourselves to be a foreigner to your own country.
At night, we got some drink after dinner and then sleep. We got a few chats and have a good dinner.
The next morning, I woke up early to see the sunrise but havent got a chance to. So, I decided to have a morning walk instead and found that there are a few dogs there too. Well, they are friendly and goes in group.
After our breakfast, we went on island hopping and snorkeling. The corals are not that impressive and so the fishes. We also have the chance to see a sunken ship which doesnt impress us at all. Imagine a ship sunken in a coast just a few meters away the shoreline. The ship is not that big and somehow we only saw some parts of it.
Make sure to capture the depths of the coral garden when you got there. You can purchase a new underwater action camera and get free shipping plus special discounts.
We should have seen the coral garden since we are sure that its not worth it and the waves are also big to have a snorkel there. So we went back to the cottage instead to fix ourselves and prepare to go home.

By noon, we packed and prepare to go home. We passed by the Bridge of Love in Medellin Cebu. Medellin is colorful. Since it is known for its colorful Funtastic Island which is colorful, they have their schools, public buildings, parks and posts painted colorful too. Even the bridge of love is colorful. We passed by to it our lunch in the bridge of love and peacefully went home.
